Strategy Categories Represented
SEBI provides seven possible SIF strategy categories. The live and pipeline universe is currently concentrated in equity and hybrid strategies, while new filings are beginning to broaden the category into debt-oriented strategies.

How many SIF schemes are live in India?

Which AMCs were among the first to launch SIFs?
Edelweiss, SBI and quant were among the earliest fund houses with live SIF schemes, followed by ICICI Prudential and other AMCs that subsequently entered the category.
Why do SIFs have separate brand names instead of the AMC's mutual fund name?
SEBI requires AMCs to ensure that the SIF has a distinct brand name and distinct logo, separate from its regular Mutual Fund business. Under the 5-Year Expiry rule, a SIF can only mention its parent AMC for the initial five years using muted qualifiers like "brought to you by" or "offered by", and the parent’s name cannot be displayed more prominently or in a larger font size than the SIF brand itself.
What is the difference between an approved SIF and a live SIF?
An approved SIF business may have regulatory approval and an established brand without having an investor-facing scheme available for investment. A live SIF is an operational scheme with the relevant launch and NAV process.
Does a scheme filing mean investors can invest?
No. Filing scheme papers is a pipeline milestone, not evidence that the scheme is open for investment. It should move to NFO or Live only when that stage is actually reached.
